Loafers Beach Club opened in 1988 and we are known for the best beach club in the Triangle.   We welcome Shagger's, West Coast Swing dancing and East Coast/Lindy to the club bringing in wonderful and fun dances.  We are strong supporters of beach and blues music.   There  have been many fundraisers held at Loafers for those in need over the years, like Pulmonary Hypertension Foundation, Needy Families, Make A Wish Foundation, Toys For Tots, Musicians In Need, Abused Children, Homeless Families, etc.   West Coast Swing Dance lessons are offered on Monday nights  starting at 7:30pm and Beginners, Intermediate I & Intermediate II Shag lessons are offered on Tuesday nights starting at 7pm.   Lindy Dancing is on Wednesday nights starting at 8pm.  There are Shag  & West Coast Swing dance workshops throughout the year and you are encouraged to come out and try it....It is fun!! Loafers is a great location for any function either it is a wedding reception, birthday, retirement, office, class reunion, business meeting, etc, and we have great rental prices as well as lots of fun, good music and dancing at Loafers.

Hi, I am Gary Gibson and I have been  DJ'ing in the Triangle area as well as Myrtle Beach, SC and other areas with the best in beach and blues  for almost 30 years.  I started collecting music as a young teenager and spinning music at the age of 17.  In 1985,  I founded Gutter Records and now with assistance from Roger Lane, Gutter Records currently has several recording artists recording under the Gutter Record Label.  My wife, Deborah & I are long time members of the Capital Area Shag Club in Raleigh, NC and I am currently an officer in CASC as well as strong supporters of other shag clubs in the area and strongly promote beach music and have provided a facility for shag and swing dancing for 18 years.   We are the recipients of Contest of The Year Awards for 1992, 1993 and 2006 and are members of SPA (Shag Preservation Association).  I have served as SPA President.

Hi, I am Deborah Gibson and I have been involved in the club business for 22 years; 20 of those years have been at Loafers Beach Club.  I trained from the best in bartending by Debbie Callahan and Sue Guin at a wonderful club years ago...Boogie Blues in Raleigh, NC, owned at that time by Ronnie Gardner, Gloria Reich, John & Pee Wee Teel and Charlie & Jackie Womble.  It no longer exist but the memories are still with me.  I met so many wonderful people throughout those years and have met and made more wonderful folks since with Loafers.  Some friends are gone now and some still remain very active in my life, some we have lost through death.  I enjoy all styles of dancing although I can't do anything other than the shag which I am very amateur.   I have been an officer of the Capital Area Shag Club, Raleigh, NC for 5 years.   I have been married to a great guy, Gary,  for 20 years and I have a beautiful daughter, a fine son-in-law, two handsome grandsons, wonderful in-laws and so many terrific friends.   If you have not been to Loafers, please come check us out.
