MEET OUR WEST COAST SWING DANE INSTRUCTORS

MEET OUR WEST COAST SWING DANCE INSTRUCTORS

Darlene will be taking a leave for a while... She has moved to China with her husband and son.   Lessons will still be held and you will still have fun...so come on out and take lessons at Loafers.... Loafers is the spot to be for West Coast Swing Lessons with Robin Smith  and Shari Huggett on Mondays and dancing on Fridays.

Robin Smith and Darlene Long-Cree have over 38 years of combined dance experience as both instructors and competition dancers.  Their backgrounds extend deep into the Country Western arena where they collectively hold numerous Overall and Grand Championship titles.  In addition, Darlene has competed in the Master’s Division of this arena and actively participates as a judge at many swing dance events around the country, including those held by the United Country Western Dance Council.  Her background includes extensive training and experience in the Latin and Ballroom styles of dance.

In 1994, she received the rare honor of being presented with the prestigious Feather Award for being recognized as the Nations Top Country Western Female Instructor.

Since teaming up in February of 2000, Robin and Darlene have been focusing almost exclusively on West Coast Swing.  In addition to being coached by the Nation's Top West Coast Swing Dance Professionals, they have also been actively competing  on the NASDE Swing circuit in both the Advanced/Pro Divisions of Strictly Swing and Sophisticated Swing.

Because of their extensive teaching experience  and background in other dance styles, this dynamic duo has almost seen it all and possess a unique understanding of West Coast Swing.  Their pride in their teamwork and their ability to successfully communicate with their students has enabled them to improve the overall level of dance wherever they go.

This is from the "Healthy Living" section in this month's Southern Living magazine.  It listed 12 ways to keep your mind healthy and active.....these were #4 and #5 and #9

#4:  TAKE DANCE LESSONS - Along with offering aerobic benefits, dancing challenges your brain.  Dancers learn how to think quickly on their feet.  Sign up for a dance class that best suits your personality.

#5  LISTEN TO LOTS OF MUSIC - Music can help you relax and take worries off your mind.  Certain songs also can evoke emotions from past events, which triggers the brain to recall and retain more memories.

#9  BE SOCIAL - An engaging conversation forces you to think about interesting topics-but even small talk can offer advantages.  Try to meet new people next time you're at a party.

YOU CAN DO ALL OF THESE AT LOAFERS!!!!
